Founded in 1962 by James MacDougal Opie, SMC Stainless has grown from its early days in practical metalwork into a trusted Aus­tralian man­u­fac­tur­er of stainless steel products for com­mer­cial, ar­chi­tec­tur­al, public works and san­i­ta­tion ap­pli­ca­tions.

From stainless steel basins, sinks, urinals, wash troughs, drains, sumps, grates, drinking fountains, handrails, tundishes and custom stainless fab­ri­ca­tions, SMC Stainless has built its rep­u­ta­tion on durable products, practical design and reliable Aus­tralian man­u­fac­tur­ing.

Today, SMC Stainless operates from OPIE Man­u­fac­tur­ing Group's advanced man­u­fac­tur­ing facility in Western Sydney. The business continues under the lead­er­ship of the Opie family, now managed by Tristan Opie, grandson of James MacDougal Opie.

With more than 60 years of man­u­fac­tur­ing ex­pe­ri­ence behind the brand, SMC Stainless combines tra­di­tion­al metal fab­ri­ca­tion knowledge with modern pro­duc­tion ca­pa­bil­i­ty. Our team supports ar­chi­tects, builders, plumbers, con­trac­tors, councils, schools, hospitals, com­mer­cial fa­cil­i­ties and in­fra­struc­ture projects across Australia.
